I've just bought a 1.8 focus zetec 02 plate and am having a increasing number of problems with it. When travelling at low revs and I put my clutch in the engine will intermittently stop. Its now also started (twice in the last 2 days) for the speedo to drop to zero for about 5-10 seconds before deciding to work again.

Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 01 1.8 Zetec Engine Problems. Hi I have just got myself a 1.8 Zetec I got the car cheap as it was sold with engine problems the owner thought it was a snapped timing belt. I have had a quick look inside the covers and the belt still seems to be holding tention.

Normal is around 220-225F to turn low fan on and 230-235F to turn high fan on. The normal temp can range from 215 to when low fan kicks on. The gauge needle pretty much does not move from 175F till around the time high fan should be coming on, it's really an idiot light disguised as a gauge.
